Jasper County Wildfire Grows, Consumes Over 3,500 Acres

Shearwood Creek Fire Reaches 80% Containment, Evacuation Orders Lifted

Responders in Jasper County, Texas, have been battling a growing wildfire that has consumed over 3,500 acres and destroyed up to six structures.

The Shearwood Creek Fire, which began burning last Thursday, has prompted Jasper County Judge Mark W. Allen to issue a declaration of disaster.

According to the Texas Forest Service, the fire is now 80% contained, and all evacuation orders have been lifted.

Firefighters are making progress in containing the blaze, which has now reached 2,000 acres and is 25% contained.
