Aces Martin Suffers Ankle Injury in Loss to Sky
WNBA Rookie Taken Off Court During First Quarter
Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin was helped off the court and taken to the locker room after suffering an apparent ankle injury in the first quarter of her team's 93-85 surprise loss to the Chicago Sky on Sunday.
Martin, who has been one of the best stories in the WNBA this season, was guarding Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale during the first quarter of the game. Ogunbowale drove to the basket before pulling up at the three-point line. Martin attempted to defend but collided with Ogunbowale and fell to the ground holding her ankle.
The Aces medical staff quickly attended to Martin and helped her off the court. She did not return to the game and her status for the remainder of the season is unknown. The Aces went on to lose the game but will be hoping that Martin's injury is not too serious.
