Feleipe Franks: Journey from Gator to Panther

Early Life and Career

Born on December 22, 1997, Feleipe Franks began his football journey in Crawfordville, Florida. As a three-star recruit, he committed to the University of Florida in 2016.

Franks made an immediate impact for the Gators, starting as a true freshman. He threw for over 2,400 yards and 24 touchdowns in his first season.

Rise to Stardom

Franks continued to excel in his sophomore and junior seasons, leading Florida to several bowl games. In 2018, he was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year after guiding the Gators to a 10-3 record.

However, Franks suffered a season-ending injury in 2019, which opened the door for Kyle Trask to take over as the starting quarterback.

Transfer to Arkansas

After losing his starting spot, Franks transferred to the University of Arkansas in 2020. He initially considered Florida State and Kentucky but ultimately chose Arkansas for their up-tempo offense.

At Arkansas, Franks played a backup role behind quarterback KJ Jefferson. He appeared in six games, throwing for 522 yards and four touchdowns.

Switch to Tight End

Prior to his senior season, Franks decided to switch from quarterback to tight end. He did so knowing that it would increase his chances of making an NFL roster.

According to 247 Sports, Franks had 19 catches for 203 yards and two touchdowns in 2021.

Carolina Panthers

Franks was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Carolina Panthers in 2022. He joins a crowded tight end room featuring Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas.

While he may not see much playing time initially, Franks has the potential to make an impact as a blocking tight end and occasional pass-catcher.
