England U21s have achieved a historic triumph by capturing the UEFA European Under-21 Championship title. The Three Lions defeated Spain U21 1-0 in a thrilling final on June 9, 2023.
The victory marks England's first major trophy at the U21 level and ends a 39-year wait since their previous triumph in 1984. It is also England's second major title at any level since the men's senior team won the FIFA World Cup in 1966.
Curtis Jones scored the only goal of the match in the 90th minute, deflecting the ball into the net after a shot from Conor Gallagher. Spain had the chance to equalize in injury time, but James Trafford made a crucial penalty save to preserve the victory.
